      Hi 357tch48,

Mars and Earth are constantly moving closer and further away as they both orbit around the sun.

At the closest point to the Earth it will take about 6 months to travel to Mars and this is with current rocket technology.

Who knows with bigger and better rockets and different ways of powering spaceships we may be able to get there quicker!

It depends when you launch. Every two years there is a chance to launch to Mars so it takes the least time (6ish months). That’s why you only see Mars launches in even years at the moment and when NASA failed their mission launch this year, now they have to wait til 2018. ESA successfully launches the ExoMars mission this year and it just took its first photo of Mars! http://www.esa.int/Our_Activities/Space_Science/ExoMars/
