The only way to go to space now and since a while is on a Soyuz rocket: It fits 3 people and they each have a custom seat lined moulded to their exact body shape.

The centre person is the Russian Cosmonaut who is the pilot and the most important and talented superhuman person!

The left seater is the co-pilot – they are an American or Russian or European or Japanese Astronaut.

The right seater is the person who is going to space for the first time and they just sit there and enjoy the ride 🙂

      Hi AmieGreenall,

Andrea is right when she says that the current Soyuz spacecraft can seat three. The Space Shuttle which was retired sveral years ago was able to seat 7.

Next year Boeing and Space-X will start to fly the new US commercial space vehicles to the ISS. Ultimately they will both be able to seat 7 astronauts like the Space Shuttle.

Cozy! Soyuz is so tiny for 3 people
