• Question: Is it true that in the centre of our Galixy their is a super massive black hole? and if their is then why isn't it swallowing us up?

      Hi Swaga!

      Another good question! There do indeed appear to be strong indications that there is a supermassive Black Hole at the centre of our galaxy as there may indeed be at the centre of every galaxy.

      However due to the laws of gravity and the conservation of angular momentum, although our Solar system is subject to the effect of gravity from the blackhole, the resulting effect is not to plunge directly towards the centre of the galaxy but instead to gracefully orbit around the blackhole every 100,000 years!
