It’s hard work, but great fun and I really enjoy it.

It’s hard work because of the amount of training you need ( at ESA for example in my old job you needed at least a Masters degree- which means going to university, then going again), and the amount of work to do ( but this happens in lots of jobs). It’s fun because not only do I get to do work I love exploring and discovering things, I also have opportunities to do other things like I’m an Astronaut. Outreach to schools is very rewarding,

It’s easier than mining to be honest. Only because when something breaks in space the astronauts have to fix it instead of back in mining when things broke they called me and my electrician and I had to fix everything by hand 😉 Although if they want to send me on breakdown calls to the ISS, I don’t object 😉

Seriously though – it’s a pretty awesome field. Mainly because the people who work in space are amazing. I am in awe of my colleagues. And it’s a small world – when I agreed to volunteer for this Touchdown Zone I didn’t know who else would be in the Astro support team – turned out I had met everyone in real life except Kirsty 🙂
