• Question: What is the limit for the amount of time a human can spend in space?

      Hi Robert,

      The current record for humans in 437 days.

      Past this we are not really sure what will happen to the body. Our best guess is that muscles and bone will continue to weaken but at what speed we just do not know.

      The biggest limiting factor will be space radiation and when humans travel to Mars this will have to be seriously considered. Proper shielding and protection against space radiation is essential for the success of a manned mission to Mars.
