That is a really thought provoking question- nice one!

One of the main reasons is that I think that the human body working in extreme environments- so microgravity, really cold places, very high altitudes- or unusual places, like deep diving, is very interesting because it is at the very edge of what the human body can do. There is a sense of adventure and the unknown in these areas which is quite exciting!

Day-to-day I work with normal people, in normal places with normal problems, like having a sore back, but the thing that keeps me motivated and interested in my work is seeing how things change when people do amazing things like fly in space.
