• Question: What does the profoundly low pressure in space affect, health wise?

      Outside in space is a vacuum- this is very bad for you as you would explode, boil and freeze at the same time.

      Inside ISS is a nice cozy 1 Atmosphere- so the same pressure as on earth at sea level. This is good as we can compare data from space with Earth, and the astronauts are not adversely effected by low pressure.

      Kirsty is right, inside the station we have a normal pressure level and also normal breathing air, well air conditioned of course. But nothing that would adversely affect the crew’s health.
